VGK Players Show Off Fortnite Skills
Playing video games is a method of bonding for players on all teams in the NHL. That’s no different for the Golden Knights as their games together, whether online or in person, are ways to build camaraderie away from the rink. On Tuesday, Dec. 18, Malcolm Subban, William Karlsson and Alex Tuch went down to the HyperX eSports Arena at the Luxor Hotel to play Fortnite with some highly-skilled gamers. The gaming session aired live on Twitch through the team’s channel: VGKtwitch.
The three Golden Knights players were separated into three teams, each comprised of three players. Six Fortnite players who frequent the eSports Arena were invited to play with Karlsson, Tuch and Subban, and their skills in the game were helpful to the Golden Knights.
Karlsson, Subban and Tuch were sure that the skills they’d acquired in their own gameplay would matchup with their Fortnite teammates, but they learned quickly that their new gaming buddies would carry their teams.
Fans gathered at the HyperX eSports Arena to watch their favorite Golden Knights learn a thing or two about the game of Fortnite. There were raffles for signed memorabilia for fans to take home to make the experience for them that much more memorable.
Thousands of viewers joined the game on Twitch for a live-stream of the entire evening. They enjoyed live commentary throughout the event to shed light on the strategy behind the game of Fortnite.
The outcome of the games was important to the Golden Knights players, but they just enjoyed the experience of playing a game other than hockey for the fans. Subban showed how much fun he was having when he mimicked one of the dances performed in the game.
