VGK Celebrate Black History Month🖤
On Feb. 22nd the Vegas Golden Knights honored Black History at T-Mobile Arena as they hosted the Vancouver Canucks. Jalen Jones (Vegas Golden Knights Sr. Motion Graphic Designer). designed the logo for the fourth consecutive year and this year portrayed the theme, “Black History Means” to represent the uplifting and positive contributions of Black people and their history.
Before the game, local Black-owned businesses were showcased throughout Toshiba Plaza. In celebration of the month, the Foundation also donated $1,000 to select groups. The Vegas Golden Knights Foundation highlighted local Black-owned businesses and nonprofits on its Instagram account (@vgkfoundation).
Another impactful moment ahead of the night, familiar faces such as Carnell Johnson (national anthem), Bojo (in-arena host), DJ Joe Green, and Jalen Jones all discussed the importance of the night in a Q&A.
Robert Strawder, CEO and founder of Donna Street Community Center and Hip Hop Entrepreneurship Program in aims to engage and empower students performed the pregame siren.
The Golden Knights celebrated their 1,000th goal at T-Mobile Arena with a 3-1 victory over Vancouver, to mark a strong return from the break.
