Knight Life: Episode 5 Recap
Knight Life kicks off its fifth episode of the series by catching up with some old acquaintances and meeting new friends with the Vegas Golden Knights.
Vegas Golden Knights Insider Gary Lawless sat down with former Golden Knights forward Brendan Leipsic, who plays for the Vancouver Canucks. Leipsic discussed about his time well spent in Las Vegas before heading north to Vancouver as result of a trade in late February.
“He loved playing for the Golden Knights. He loved his time spent in Vegas. I have known him since he was a teenager, so we have a bit of a connection there,” said Lawless after chatting with Leipsic.
Leipsic also touched on the unforgettable playoff run that the Vegas Golden Knights took.
“Being a Winnipeg boy when they were playing the Jets and I was back in Winnipeg, they went to the Cup Final and it was hard not to watch those guys,” said Leipsic. “I was rooting for them.”
Next Aly Lozoff took a ride with another former forward, David Perron, who is now once again a member of the St. Louis Blues. They cruised through the streets of St. Louis chatting about the offseason, reminiscing about his time in Vegas and the start of a new season with his familiar former team.
“I miss a lot of things about Vegas,” said Perron. “First of all, I miss the players. That’s who you go to battle with every day, it’s not just about battling it’s having fun in the room. That’s one thing I miss the most is how close the group was.”
Following Lozoff’s cruise with Perron, Lawless caught up with forward Ryan Reaves in the place where he used to call home. Reaves was drafted by the Blues in 2005, and played in St. Louis from 2010-17.
He and Lawless caught up about the past, present and future of Reaves.
“Going into the Vegas versus St. Louis game, Ryan scored three goals in four games. He scored his first powerplay goal in his career. He is averaging double-digit ice time for the first time in his career. He is playing some of the best hockey he has ever played. The fact that it was a return to St. Louis where his career started, it was a natural setting,” said Lawless on his interview with Reaves.
A new face in the Golden Knights dressing room, defenseman Nick Holden talked about what he likes to do in his free time.
Rounding out episode five, Vegas Golden Knights Director of Hockey Operations Misha Donskov and Senior Vice President Murray Craven gave viewers a sneak peek on the inside of VGK University. Fans get to know the ins and outs about what it takes to be a hockey player.
Stay tuned for the next episode of Knight Life, airing next Friday at 7 p.m. PT on AT&T SportsNet.
