Desert Gold - Episode 2

Desert Gold - Episode 2

The second episode of NBCSN’s Desert Gold series aired Wednesday night with insight into how the city of Las Vegas and eventually the Golden Knights organization came to be. Owner Bill Foley and General Manager George McPhee also spoke to drafting players with low egos that wanted to come in and prove something in the new franchise.

Las Vegas was known for its expanse of entertainment options but it lacked a professional sports franchise. Foley took the pulse of community interest in bringing a hockey team to the city and learned that his idea was feasible. Foley’s drive and determination to make the team possible can be traced back to his time at West Point.

The area around T-Mobile Arena, referred to as “The Park,” has become the central location for fans to gather before games. Transformed into a Golden Knights-centric hub, The Park provides patrons with a variety of restaurants and bars and is the home of the Knight Line’s march before every home game. The unique experience of being a Golden Knights fan is on full display outside T-Mobile Arena.

Episode 3 will air on Dec. 17 on NBC Sports.
