2019 Nevada Reading Week
Nevada Reading Week is celebrated every year in the Clark County School District (CCSD). This school year, reading week kicked off on Feb. 25 and concluded on March 1, the day before Dr. Seussโs Birthday. The Vegas Golden Knights and SilverSummit Healthplan teamed up for the second consecutive year for Nevada Reading Week. Chance and the Golden Aces visited CCSD schools to read to students and discuss the importance of reading and literacy. Chance and the Golden Aces read the book Vegas Born: A Vegas Golden Knights Story to all the children they visited. The book shared the unbelievable story of the Golden Knights inaugural season.
Chance and the Golden Aces visited Richard Priest Elementary School and they received a warm welcome. Everyone was so excited to see Chance and the Golden Aces.
โReading a book about the Knights, being exposed to reading is so much more important than what they see almost everyday,โ said Pamela Hays, Principal at Richard Priest Elementary School about the importance of reading and having Chance and the Golden Aces from the Golden Knights come to their school.
Wrapping up Reading Week, Chance and the Golden Aces visited three different classrooms at Doris French Elementary School. The students in each class were so ecstatic to everyoneโs favorite Gila Monster and Golden Aces come to their classroom.
